Introducing True Click (Beta): Cleaner, More Reliable Click Metrics in Email Marketing

Security scanners and anti-phishing bots are great at protecting inboxes but they can wreak havoc on your email reports by “clicking” every link they find. The result is inflated click numbers, misleading engagement signals, and automation triggers firing when they shouldn’t.

True Click (Beta) is our new account-level feature designed to help reduce bot clicks in your email marketing reports when click tracking is enabled. By adding a lightweight verification step to every tracked link, True Click aims to keep your click metrics focused on real people, not robots.

What True Click does

  • Adds a verification step to tracked links: When a recipient clicks a link in your email, they’re briefly redirected to a secure Velocity page that performs a few checks.
  • Preserves the original destination: After the checks run, the user is redirected to the original link URL.
  • Counts clicks after verification: Clicks are only recorded after the second redirect from the verification page. This helps filter out many automated scanners that don’t follow typical human browsing behavior.

Why this matters

  • Cleaner metrics: Reduce inflated click totals and get a truer picture of engagement.
  • Better decisions: Optimize content, segments, and send times using data that’s less skewed by bots.
  • More reliable downstream logic: If you use clicks to trigger follow-ups or goal conversions, fewer bot clicks can mean fewer false positives.

How to turn on True Click

  • Go to Email Marketing -> System Settings in your Velocity Marketing Software account.
  • Check the box labeled “True Click (Beta).”
  • Click Save.

That’s it. Once enabled, all links in your tracked emails will route through the additional verification step before redirecting to the final destination.

How it works at a glance

  • User clicks a link in your email.
  • The click is routed to a Velocity verification page.
  • A few security checks run to help distinguish bots from humans.
  • If the checks pass, the user is redirected to the original link URL.
  • The click is counted only after that second redirect.

What to expect

  • Fewer bot clicks in reports: You may see a reduction in total clicks, especially if your audience includes domains that aggressively scan links.
  • Minimal user impact: Subscribers may notice a very brief redirect; the final destination remains the same as the link you included in your email.
  • No link changes required: You don’t need to update your email templates or URLs. True Click works automatically when enabled and when click tracking is turned on.

Best practices

  • Monitor performance: Compare click rates before and after enabling True Click to understand the impact on your audience.
  • Align your automations: If your workflows or scoring models rely on click events, you may find they become more precise with fewer bot-triggered actions.
  • Keep stakeholders informed: If your organization reports on click metrics, let your team know that True Click is enabled and why totals may adjust.

Important notes

  • Beta status: True Click is in Beta. We’re actively improving detection and welcome your feedback.
  • No solution catches everything: True Click may not filter every automated system, and some advanced bots could still appear as clicks. The goal is to reduce false clicks, not to guarantee their complete removal.
  • Applies when click tracking is enabled: True Click enhances your existing click tracking. If link tracking is disabled for a send, True Click will not apply.

Frequently asked questions

Does True Click change where my links go? No. True Click adds a verification step but ultimately redirects to the exact URL you included in your email.

Will subscribers notice anything different? Most users will experience a normal click with, at most, a brief redirect. The final destination remains unchanged.

Do I need to update my templates or URLs? No changes are required. Enable True Click at the account level and it will apply to tracked links automatically.

Can I turn it off? Yes. You can disable True Click any time in System Settings by unchecking “True Click (Beta)” and clicking Save.

Introducing the Unsubscribe Survey: Gain Insights from Every Opt-Out

At Velocity Marketing Software, we’re committed to helping you create better, smarter email campaigns. That’s why we’re excited to roll out our latest feature: the Unsubscribe Survey.

Now, when someone chooses to unsubscribe from your email list, they can share the reason why. This gives you powerful insights into what’s working—and what isn’t—so you can continuously improve your email marketing strategy.

How It Works

When a user clicks “unsubscribe,” they’ll be presented with five simple options:

  1. No longer want emails (Default)
  2. I never signed up for this email list
  3. The emails are inappropriate
  4. The emails are spam
  5. Other (with a text box for custom feedback)

If a subscriber selects “Other,” they can share their reason in their own words, giving you even more context.

Clear Insights at a Glance

On your Unsubscribe List, you’ll now see exactly why people opted out. Even better, our system automatically generates a pie chart breakdown of all unsubscribe reasons.

This visual insight helps you quickly identify patterns—for example, if too many people say emails feel “spammy” or “irrelevant,” you know it’s time to revisit your content strategy.

Why It Matters

Understanding why people unsubscribe is the first step toward reducing future opt-outs. Whether it’s frequency, content quality, or list hygiene, the Unsubscribe Survey gives you the data to:

  • Improve email relevance: Tailor content based on feedback.
  • Maintain list health: Remove unengaged or irrelevant contacts.
  • Protect your sender reputation: Reduce “spam” complaints and improve deliverability.

Introducing Velocity’s New List Ramp-Up Feature: The Smart, Safe Way to Warm Up Your Email List

Are you launching a new email marketing campaign with a fresh audience list? At Velocity, we understand how important deliverability is especially when you’re reaching out to recipients for the first time. That’s why we’re excited to announce our brand new Email List Ramp-Up feature, purpose-built to help you safely “warm up” your email list for maximum inbox placement and long-term success.

Why Is Email List Ramp-Up Important?

Suddenly sending large volumes of emails from a new list can signal red flags to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and spam filters. This can result in deliverability issues, higher bounce rates, or even account suspension. Gradually increasing your sending volume—known as “list ramp-up” or “IP warming” helps establish your reputation with ISPs and maximizes your delivery rates.

How Does Velocity’s List Ramp-Up System Work?

Velocity’s new ramp-up tool is intuitively built right into your campaign creation workflow. Here’s how it works:

  1. Select Your List: When creating a new campaign, simply select the email list you want to use (please note, ramp-up is available only when a single list is selected).
  2. Enable Ramp-Up: Scroll down to the “List Ramp-Up System” section, click “Show,” and then check “Enable List Ramp-Up System.”
  3. Review Your List Composition: See at a glance the top five email domains (like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) in your list and their percentage of your list vital info for deliverability strategizing.
  4. Set Your Ramp-Up Options:
    • Starting Volume: Set the number of emails you’ll send on day one. By default, calculates this based on list size, with built-in safeguards (minimum 50, maximum 1000).
    • Daily Increase Percentage: Decide how quickly you want to ramp up. The default is 10% more emails per day, but you control the pace.
  5. Automatic Ramp-Up Plan & Insights: Instantly see a chart displaying:
    • How many emails will send per day
    • The number of days to full delivery Adjust your settings and see real-time adjustments on your ramp-up timeline.
  6. Optimized Scheduling: Emails go out between 7am and 5pm in your time zone. Velocity automatically distributes messages throughout the day for natural, healthy sending patterns.
  7. Automated Campaign Creation: Velocity does the heavy lifting automatically creating a distinct campaign for each ramp-up day. Each campaign title is clearly labeled with “Day ##” so you can easily track your progress.

Key Benefits of Email List Ramp-Up

  • Protect Your Sender Reputation: Prevent sudden spikes that could cause blocks or filtering.
  • Maximize Deliverability: Give ISPs time to get familiar with your sending patterns, improving inbox placement.
  • Easy to Use, Fully Automated: No complex scheduling or manual splitting—all it takes is a few clicks.
